1. Application background
Smart home appliances have penetrated into the lives of modern people. For example, electric kettles need automatic power-off after boiling water, and anti-dry power-off function, which requires the use of heat-sensitive bimetallic elements. When the water boils, the water vapor generated deforms the heat sensitive element and pushes the power switch to cut off the power through the lever principle. Since the kettle does not need to be reheated after power failure, it cannot be automatically reset after power failure, so a manual reset thermostat should be used.
The safety of smart home appliances is also crucial. If the heating is out of control, the over-temperature protection function needs to be activated to cut off the heating power supply when the heating is not stopped. Therefore, as the key device of over-temperature protection, temperature switch plays a vital role in smart home appliances.
2. Protection principle
· The temperature switch is a mechanical passive component. When the circuit fails or the current exceeds the rated value, the abnormal heating of the circuit causes the temperature to rise. The temperature switch senses the external temperature change through the internal heat sensitive element bimetal. Once the temperature exceeds the set threshold, the two pieces will deform and disconnect Contact, cut off the circuit, so as to protect the whole machine.
When the heat-sensitive element acts, the contact is disconnected, and the contact resistance changes from within 50mΩ to near infinity instantly, turning off the main circuit current, thereby protecting the whole machine.
When the ambient temperature drops to the reset temperature of the temperature switch, the heat sensitive element returns to the initial state, the contact is closed again, and the resistance signal within 50mΩ is given to the circuit, and the actuator operates according to the program setting.
3. Installation position
The temperature switch is often placed in the main line or a position where the heating temperature can be felt quickly and well, so as to monitor the temperature change in time.
4. Selection factors
· Rated current and voltage: Ensure that the rated current and voltage of the selected temperature switch meet the working current and voltage requirements of smart home appliances to ensure normal operation.
· Protection temperature: according to the design and installation location to choose different temperatures.
· Contact switch form: it is divided into two types: normally closed and normally open. Normally closed is the initial state of contact closure, and the temperature protection contact is disconnected. It is always the opposite. Different switch forms are selected according to the design.
· Reset form: divided into two types: automatic reset and manual reset. After the contact is disconnected, after the temperature drops to the reset temperature of the temperature switch, the contact is automatically closed, which is automatic reset; if the contact needs to be manually closed, it is manual reset.
· Size and installation method: Select the appropriate size and installation method of the thermal protector according to the size and installation space of the smart home appliance to ensure that the installation is convenient and does not affect the normal operation of the equipment.
